OPEN ARCHIVES

 

The Open Archives section handpicks from the best of film archives around the globe. Audiences come across recently restored classics, exciting discoveries and cinema gold that has long been hidden away in cans. This year films are coming from France, Great Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Serbia. One special feature of the section is that it includes several silent films with live music accompaniment. As usual, there is a wide-ranging professional programme, too, in which Hungarian and international experts introduce the latest archive initiatives.
