This year’s Film Marathon is dedicating a separate section to the movies of the Hungarian-born film director André de Toth (Endre Tóth), born 110 years ago this year, who became famous as the innovator of films noir and westerns.

Film directors Judit Elek and Ildikó Enyedi with Thierry Frémaux, director of Cannes Film Festival, as guests at the 2022 Budapest Classics Film Marathon – and now all three back together at Cannes!

This year’s Budapest Classics Film Marathon extends an invitation to carefree entertainment with the films of the inimitable Kálmán Latabár.

Budapest Classics Film Marathon, the international film festival of restored classics and gems of film history, is back again, between 12-17 September 2023.

Between 12-17 September 2023, the National Film Institute Hungary – Film Archive is organizing the 6th Budapest Classics Film Marathon. Over the six days of the showcase, audiences can watch wide selection of classic movies, participate at lectures and workshops, cine-concerts, and enjoy various film-related programmes.
