Gábor Reisz

Gábor Reisz was born in 1980, in Budapest, Hungary. After graduating from the University of Physical Education, he went to Eötvös Loránd University to study Film Theory and Film History in 2003. In 2006, he started to study at the University of Theatre and Film Arts Budapest, as a film and television director. He wrote and directed several short films.

In 2014, he graduated with his first feature ‘For Some Inexplicable Reason’. The film premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival’s East of the West competition. The film has been awarded at several international film festivals worldwide including Torino Film Festival’s Special Prize, Critics Award and Audience Prize, Miskolc CineFest’s Adolph Zukor Main Prize, Sofia IFF’s Best Director Award, and became a cult film. ‘For Some Inexplicable Reason’ was released in several countries.
