Prague Short Film Festival
Czech Republic
The Prague Short Film Festival is an offshoot of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Seeking further direction for their work, the organizers of KVIFF decided to present a type of festival that is lacking here at home. Although short film is rather neglected in our country, it is precisely this format that has been a springboard for a number of today’s globally acclaimed filmmakers. In the Czech Republic, short films have disappeared from theatres, and opportunities for showing them on TV are tapering off. At the same time, short film production worldwide – partly thanks to huge technological advances – is on the rise. Therefore, the organizers of Prague SFF have decided to present the Czech public with the best of what this genre has to offer today.
