Recognized by FIAPF - International Federation of Film Producers Associations as a "non-specialized festival with a feature film competition" - Category A.

The Venice International Film Festival is the world's oldest festival of film, and was first held seventy years ago in 1932, as part of the Venice Biennale. The Venice Biennale is an interdisciplinary Cultural Society concerned with visual arts, architecture, dance, music, theatre and cinema.

Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica - International Film Festival - The Festival intends increasing awareness of international cinema in all its forms as art, spectacle and industry in a spirit of freedom and tolerance.

OFFICIAL SELECTION

Venezia 67 - An international competition comprising a maximum of 20 feature films, presented as world premieres.
Out of Competition - Some of the most important works of the year, and in particular those by directors already established in past editions of the Festival, will be presented in the non-competing section.
Orizzonti - A line of programming devoted to new tendencies in world cinema without distinction of genre or duration, presenting works that reflect the continual redefinition of filmmaking within the whole range of contemporary visual expression.
Controcampo Italiano - A section aiming to take stock of the latest trends in Italian cinema, comprising a maximum of 7 programmes. Only works presented as a world premiere will be admitted.

INDEPENDENT AND PARALLEL SECTIONS

INTERNATIONAL CRITICS' WEEK (SIC - Settimana Internazionale della Critica)
A series of 7 first feature films independently selected by a Committee appointed by the National Association of Italian Film Critics (SNCCI).

VENICE DAYS - Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days)
A series of 10-12 films independently organized by a commission nominated by the Italian Association of Film-makers (ANAC - Associazione Nazionale Autori Cinematografici) and by the Association of Independent Directors and Producers (API - Associazione Autori e Produttori Indipendenti).
