A middle-aged couple gets one more chance from fate to put up a girl, the employ as a housekeeper, after they lost their daughter who had died in an accident. Anna, the dumb girl's presence in the house seems to change everything. Can the couple use the unexpected opportunity? Can the sins of the past be made good? Is there anything like an innocent lie?
We see the black and white story from the angle of the dumb girl.
